About Wayward Found

Drawing closer to God, one step at a time.

Why this exists

I built Wayward Found because I was a lost Christian.

I do not mean I was far from God. I mean I was already His, and I still had no idea what I was doing. I wanted to draw closer to Him. I wanted to stand in awe of Him. And I did not know how. I did not know what prayer was supposed to sound like. I did not know what it meant to actually read Scripture rather than just get through it. The simplest things felt confusing, and I was embarrassed that they did.

Christianity is simple at the center. Love God. Love your neighbor. Pray. But there is real depth under every one of those, and when you start pulling on the thread you can end up drowning in theology and vocabulary and other people's decades of practice. That is where a lot of new believers quietly stall out. Not because they stopped believing, but because nobody ever showed them what the next step was.

This app started as the thing I built to learn how to pray.

That is the honest origin. I did not need more information, I needed a way to practice. So I built a walkthrough for the ACTS pattern, because I needed one. Later, seminary opened up praying Scripture, and I thought that is beautiful, other people should get to experience it, so I built a way to walk through that too. Then lament. Then confession. Then meditation, memorization, journaling. Every practice in here exists because I needed to learn it myself, and building the walkthrough was how I learned it.

I needed the rhythm as much as the practices. I had years of habits pointed at my own comfort: social media, another episode, whatever was easiest. Replacing those with prayer and Scripture and serving other people did not happen because I felt inspired one morning. It happened because I built something that brought me back regularly, until the practices held on their own.

“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”

— Jeremiah 29:13 (BSB)

What We Believe

  • •Scripture First. Every answer, suggestion, prayer, and teaching is grounded in Scripture. We cite book, chapter, and verse. We avoid speculation and stay faithful to the biblical text.
  • •Heart Over Habit. Spiritual practices are not checkboxes. Lingering in God's presence and praying with genuine longing matters more than completing a daily streak.
  • •Denominational Respect. We default to broad, historic Christian consensus while allowing users to customize their experience based on their tradition.
  • •One Walk, Every Context. Your life with God is one life, lived everywhere you are, and the time you spend here is part of it rather than a rehearsal for it. What this tool will not do is stand in for people. Our AI will not tell you God's specific plan for your life, it will not stand in for a pastor, and when something is heavy it points you toward a person. Baptism, communion, gathered worship, and being truly known belong to a local church, because those need a body in the room.
  • •Tool, Not Replacement. This platform is not a replacement for God, Scripture, the Church, or human relationship. It is a tool designed to help people learn, practice, and stay on track in their walk with Christ.

For the doctrine behind these values, read our Statement of Faith. For exactly where AI is used, what it is forbidden to do, and how we handle your most sensitive words, read How We Use AI.

“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the LORD of Hosts.

Who this is for

Not the spiritually mature. The spiritually young.

The person who got baptized and then wondered what happens now. The person with real questions who will not ask a pastor, because asking out loud feels like admitting you should already know. The person who walks into a new church, sees a room full of people who have been doing this for thirty years, and decides to stay quiet.

Shame keeps people out of the exact rooms that would help them. This is meant to be the place you can be confused out loud, with nobody watching, until you are confident enough to walk into those rooms.

The goal is to bridge that gap. From confusion to confidence. From spiritual infant toward maturity. And then to hand you off to real people in a real church, because that is where this is supposed to lead. I believe that is what God put in front of me to build, and it is the whole point: for this to become less necessary to you over time.

Who I am

I am Jason. I am not a pastor. I am a software engineer who was confused about his own faith and started building the tools he needed.

I am working through seminary coursework, and the classes on discipleship and spiritual formation shaped this more than anything else. They added depth to things I had assumed were simple, and a great deal of what you will find in here came straight out of that.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.”
